In January 2023, 3 years after out last mission and Covid free, we were able to return to Uganda for a week long mission. Our small team of 2 medical doctors, 3 nurse practitioners, 2 pharmacists an EMT and a medical student were able to provide primary care and medications to the community of Kavule.


On January 3rd 2020 a Waves of Health team of four doctors, one nurse practitioner, four pharmacists, three emergency medical personnel and two support personal traveled over 7100 miles to Kavule.  During the week long mission, 900 patients received primary medical and pharmacy care. In addition to receiving a physical exam, all the patients were screened for malaria. The local Franciscan Sisters, specifically Sister Bernadette,  were instrumental in the success of the mission.

Waves of Health completed its first mission to Uganda, Africa in January 2018. Waves of Health Board Member Cecilia Saharig and her son Noel, with passion and persistence, initiated the effort to bring primary medical and pharmacy care to underserved communities in Uganda. Waves of Health Board Members Michael Tingllin, Laura Toner and Eric Engelhardt joined Cecilia on the mission to Africa. The team included 4 Providers, 2 Pharmacists and 3 Emergency medical technicians. Over 700 patients in Kavule, Uganda were evaluated and treated. The Waves of Health mission to Kavule makes a huge impact on people’s health because medical aid is limited.
